Embrace your flaws and become FLAWSOME!
It is very well said that...
"Don't judge a book by its cover"
But when it comes to people, we hardly go by the saying and end up doing the exact contrary, don't we? At some point in life, we all have misjudged others based on their external appearances as well as been the victim of 'body-shaming' by society. Comparison of physical attributes or criticizing a person for their height, weight, stature, complexion etc. is the root cause for all such humiliating and nasty comments. But the real question posed here is that "Is only society at large to be blamed for this?" or "Is there any added self-contribution to it as well?"
When you start doubting yourself and consider others' opinion more valuable than yours own, that is when you give authority to that third person to make decisions for you. Slowly, you would start comparing yourself with others. And, eventually, you only would be judging yourself through their eyes. For instance, "Why don't I look as good as her?" or "Why can't I be like him? It is so unfair!" or "I am never good enough for anything in life"... Isn't this true?? Well, you would be lying to yourself if such thoughts have never ever crossed your mind even once in your lifetime! Self-criticism is your biggest enemy and cribbing about your imperfections is one of the best ways to invite melancholy; destroying your inner peace.
Basically, we are never satisfied with what we own. Be it money or looks. I agree that desires have surely lead to the betterment of mankind. Having to want something more is not bad. There is nothing wrong in doing best for yourself. But may I ask that at what cost??? By becoming a slave to an artificial illusion of becoming "PERFECT" in every sense?? To be honest, you do not need to forcefully fit yourself in the idealistic and unrealistic standards set by the societal convention. Being something less than the ideal is NOT A FLAW! Well, it is pretty much crystal clear fact that "Absolutely nobody is perfect in this whole wide world..!" Neither the celebrities; nor even the richest men on this Earth. Physical or mental imperfections can come into your way only if you let them block you. We all possess immense of capabilities. Just free yourself... Keep on believing in yourself... Set your own sweet standards... And make most of your natural gifts... I am sure we all can manage to achieve the greatest, by taking along our imperfections. And you know why? That is because everyone is perfect in their own quirky imperfect ways...!!!
We all have evolved through generations and generations from various imperfections. It is the most natural thing in life. It basically constitutes who we are! Perfection is boring, like a dead-end. But it is that little imperfection that keeps us going and keeps our lives interesting. It is a sign that we are still growing.. still learning.. still evolving..! It ratifies that there is still some room left for improvement. It makes us unique from others by letting us showcase our own individuality. Besides, sometimes what you consider as your imperfection, can also prove to be your biggest strength. For example, an introvert person or a person with speaking disability can be an amazing listener or even a very keen observer! In fact, flaws like 'DIMPLES' can be simply attractive and a beautiful addition to your personality! So, OWN WHO YOU ARE - Be it good, bad or ugly; but start appreciating!! Let's just ask the "machines" to be perfect and not "human beings", right??
In my opinion, I would just like to put that we all can definitely try and win over our core intangible demons like our 'hot-headed nature' or 'arrogance' to save ourselves from sinking relationships. But as far as physical imperfections are concerned, please do not push yourself to FIX them.. Instead, why not to accept them with an open heart and try to be compassionate towards everyone around us, of course, starting with ourselves first! I would wrap up by saying just one thing -
"Don't stop looking at yourself till you are perfect...
Just change the way of looking at yourself and you are already perfect...!"
